The distance from the southwest edge of Central Park to Times Square is 0.6 miles. On foot, it takes about 15 minutes to walk. By car, the distance can be traveled in less than five minutes. However, the distance from Times Square to the center of Central Park is actually closer to two miles. 

If you’re only in New York for a short time and want to take in as much as possible, staying in Manhattan will put you closer to many iconic attractions, such as Central Park and Times Square. However, if you want to visit the Brooklyn Bridge or enjoy Brooklyn-style pizza, find a place to stay in the borough of Brooklyn. 

There are many toll roads around New York City. Major toll roads include Governor Thomas E. Dewey Thruway, which runs from Buffalo, NY, all the way to Manhattan, and the New England Thruway, which connects New Rochelle to Port Chester. If you rent a car from Avis, look into our e-Toll service.

In terms of natural beauty and good weather, the more temperate months during the spring and fall seasons are considered the best for visiting New York. Fall is particularly gorgeous in New York.
